• “From the Times about the times” – Denny Davidoff, Guest Speaker

Denny Davidoff is hooked on the New York Times. So what does this have to do with her passion for Unitarian Universalism?

Conversation with Denny Davidoff – After ServiceStay after service for a conversation with one of Unitarian Universalism’s most influential lay leaders.  She’ll share about what lay leaders should know about the training of ministers, as well as other follow-ups to her sermon.

Denny’s Bio:  Denny’s volunteer career with the UUA began in 1971.  She has served the movement as Treasurer and President of the UU Women’s Federation, Chair of the GA Planning Committee, Trustee-at Large and as the elected Moderator of the Association from 1993-2001, presiding over the Board of Trustees and the annual General Assembly.  Denny was a founder and Chair of The Interfaith Alliance Foundation in Washington, and has served as a Trustee of Meadville Lombard Theological School (Unitarian Universalist).   Since November, 2008, Denny has worked for Meadville Lombard as Sr. Consultant, Development and Alumni/ae Affairs. Denny has two sons and four grandchildren, all UU’s.  We are excited and thrilled to have Denny with us for the weekend and hope you will take advantage of this great opportunity to share in conversation with one of the leaders of our movement.

March 4th – “Life Goes On” – Rev. Gretchen Haley; We begin our reflection on “Mission” with this worship service responding to The Cherry Orchard.  Chekhov is known for his dark humor reflecting on the meaning of life in the face of loss and change.  We’re grateful to have TRTC’s Valerie Haugen and Lon Winston joining us to consider what gives the capacity to go on given the struggles life can present.

“The Cherry Orchard” is a Russian classic that is as important today as it was a century ago when first performed at the famous Moscow Art Theatre. This comic-drama presents themes of cultural futility: the aristocracy to maintain its status, the bourgeoisie to find meaning in its newfound materialism, and the rise of the middle class.
