Big NEWS for TRUUs!!
As you know, Amy Rowland is not able to return to TRUU next year, and while we deeply regret the closing of that door, we look forward to the opening of a new one!
Some of you may remember Reverend Papa as our guest speaker from last September. Two years ago, he and his wife Patty returned to their home in Denver after spending several years in Boston, where Stephan was the Special Assistant to the President for Growth Funding of the UUA. Prior to that time, he served as Senior Minister of the Main Line Unitarian Church in Devon, PA. Some of our congregation knew Reverend Papa from his years as Senior Minister at First Universalist in Denver. He has also led UU churches in Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Buffalo, NY.
He has a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Meadville Lombard Theological School in Chicago, where he also received a Master of Arts degree in Religious Studies.
Reverend Papa writes, “Providing Sunday services and pastoral care are my favorite parts of the ministry; education, administration and social action in the community are also areas of [my] strength.” He has served as Minister of UU churches with congregations of 600-900 adults and over 300 children, so our little mountain community will provide him with a new vantage point and an opportunity to personally know all of us! He looks forward to meeting our congregation not only through worship services, but also in Circle Suppers, Blessing of the Animals, Winter Solstice and other special events.
TRUU is so fortunate to have been led by such amazing talent: Robert Latham, Gretchen Haley, Amy Rowland– all of them have contributed their own unique experience, vision, spiritual depth and guidance. There must be something very special about this congregation, for we continue to attract extraordinary ministers!
Please stay tuned for summer worship services and an opportunity to “meet and greet” with Reverend Papa and his wife, Patty Prevost, and welcome them into the TRUU community.
And please remember the Annual Congregational Meeting on May 19.
President, TRUU Board of Trustees
