Our leader will be Denise Davidoff, better known as Denny. Denny will facilitate a workshop on the Saturday morning of the retreat and will present the worship service on Sunday morning. The retreat will again be on the banks of the Pine River, just below Vallecito Lake at Ken and Lois Carpenter’s home and tree farm called Pine Song. Campers are welcome to set up the afternoon and evening of Friday, July 8. Those who don’t wish to camp can simply drive out from town on Saturday and Sunday or stay at cabins around the Vallecito area. There will be fun activities and classes for the children, free or family time on Saturday afternoon, and a potluck dinner and campfire Saturday evening. Adult activities and retreat meals will be centered at the pavilion. Shade shelters will be provided for the children and their activities which will run concurrently with the adult programming. Brochures with all the details will be available in May. This should be a great event and an opportunity to meet other western slope UU’s.
Denise Davidoff is an outstanding UU lay leader. Besides being active in her Westport, CT congregation, Denny was a leader and president of the national UU Women’s Federation. She served for eight years in the 90’s as the Moderator of the General Assembly and Chairperson of the UUA Board of Trustees. As that term was ending she helped found The Interfaith Alliance and served on its board and then the board of its Foundation for a number of years. Most recently as a board member of our Meadville Lombard Theological School in Chicago, Denny has been working to improve its financial security.
