Social action has been pretty busy helping Standing Rock! After convening a community meeting with over 50 people, we were able to raise over $450 which was immediately sent to the Oceti Sakowin camp. We also collected donations at the Third Street Center, including 9 wood stoves to be sent up to the Standing Rock Sioux tribe.
While helping with supplies, member Michael Levengood organized solidarity actions on November 15th, asking community members in Aspen and Carbondale to close their Wells Fargo accounts, as Wells Fargo is one of the financial backers of the pipeline. Rev. Shawna Foster also was on KDNK as part of the valley voices segment with Tim Brogdon and Dave Taylor to share their experience at Standing Rock: http://kdnk.org/post/locals-share-standing-rock-experiences TRUU will continue to aid this effort by coordinating people from the valley to head up to the camp in North Dakota and help the water protectors.
