The children’s learning garden at the 3rd Street Center is ready to be planted! Last month members and friends of TRUU built a keyhole garden in front of the 3rd Street Center with the help of Growing Food Forward and Kim Doyle Wille. We built the soil by using many layers of different types of compostable material and made the keyhole out of wire mesh forming a compost cage that will feed the soil as the garden is watered. This design comes from Africa where communities use it in drought areas. Come see how it works for yourself and help plant it with seeds and seedlings provided by Growing Food Forward this Sunday. We will start planting at 11:30 after the service and it should only take 20-30 minutes to complete this family friendly project. Gardening tools will be provided, bring yourself and a child or just yourself. All of the food grown in this garden will be given to local families in need. Hope to see you there!
