Last Sunday was one of my favorite ceremonies: the Water Communion, aka our annual Ingathering Service. After we all poured our vials of water into a communal basin, we were asked to give generously during the offering, because Florence and your TRUU Board had voted to donate the entirety of the offering to the UU Service Committee’s campaign, “The Human Right to Water.” And give generously you did! We collected over $500, all of which will be sent to the UUSC. Thank you to everyone who participated and who gave!
The UUSC does wonderful humanitarian work around the world, and I invite you to visit their website uusc.org
and see what they are accomplishing. If you watch the nightly news, or read news online, you are, as we all are, painfully aware of the refugee crisis unfolding in Europe. The UUSC is actively engaged in assisting the refugees as much as possible, and seeking donations to make their work possible. If you go to their website, you will see the link, “Support the UUSC-UUA Refugee Crisis Fund.” If you are able, I encourage you to donate to this cause as well. We believe in “the goal of world community,” and so very much of the world community is suffering in ways we can’t even imagine.
Thank you for all you do!
Sue Coyle, Board President
