Organizers Nicolette Toussaint, Trina Haines and Amy Barr are scheduling the Chapman Reservoir (above the Ruedi) camping trip for Friday and Saturday, August 12 and 13, 2016. This year, the planning team is aiming for three adjacent campsites right on the river, including the two fab sites reserved last year.
To reserve your spot with the TRUU group, please give Amy Barr $10 in cash by May 31. If the planners experience an overwhelming response, the monies, less campground-site rental fees, will be used to purchase group supplies and/or beverages, or the remaining funds will be divided and refunded to all those who contributed. (Daily car-parking fees are extra and can be paid directly to the campground managers as each driver arrives. Group travel is recommended.)
Amy will keep a running list of attendees, including TRUU members and friends. Periodic updates will be posted in the TRUU electronic newsletters.
Remember, several people shared super-large tents last year, so if a willing camper doesn’t have camping equipment, have no fear, there will be shelter and sleeping bags available for you.
As last year’s participants probably would recall, only Saturday night was reserved. But, everyone agreed at the event that, for 2016, a two-day campout made more sense, considering all of the planning and – er – massive cache of food and beverages that was prepared, served and shared. Thus, a Friday evening arrival, with additional all-day fun, conversation and relaxation, will be planned for Saturday. Similar to last year, a casual Sunday morning service around the campfire will be scheduled, with departures no later than 1 p.m. to free up the reserved sites for incoming campers and to adhere to the campground’s official rules.
