Starting in August, TRUU will be meeting in the Calaway Room at Third Street Center in Carbondale! This bright and airy space will accommodate our growing group, need less “rearranging” for each gathering, and be inspirational with its Sopris view and grassy expanse outside the big windows. This is a great activity hub and will be wonderful for TRUU. Our RE program will have a great space in a sunny-yellow pair of classrooms down the hall from our worship space.
Many thanks are in order for making this move possible… please pass them along as you see these folks! Jody Ensign, the Director of Third Street, has been terrific in helping us patch all the pieces together. Mountain Valley Development, especially Bruce Christiansen and Amanda Emerson, are to be thanked for use of their classroom space. Scott Gilbert and Evan Zislis of Habitat for Humanity are sharing their office at the Center to help us with storage and provide Gretchen a meeting and study spot. Jim Calaway, Leo McKinney, and Sue Edelstein worked with all these folks to put the package together.
If you don’t know Third Street, it’s a hub of activity for Carbondale. It is a former elementary school that a year ago became a center for non-profits, many of whose values are aligned with UU principles. It is located along highway 133, just south of our former meeting place at Bridges. The Center can be reached by going south on Third from Main Street in Carbondale (you will end up in the parking lot!) or by turning off 133 by the Middle School (across from the entry to River Valley Ranch), making an immediate left on Second, and then a left on Capitol, the first street on your left.
SEE YOU @ THIRD STREET!
