Two Rivers Unitarian Universalist (TRUU), located in Carbondale, CO, and serving the greater Roaring Fork Valley from Aspen to Glenwood Springs and beyond, is seeking a part-time minister. In the past, we have been blessed with truly outstanding ministers: Rev. Robert Latham, Rev. Gretchen Haley, Rev. Amy Rowland, and for the last two years, Rev. Stephan Papa, who will be retiring in June. All have enriched our worship experience immeasurably, but they have been half-time and have commuted twice a month from the Denver area. Because of membership growth and increased financial support, we are now seeking someone who will reside in the area and who will assist our congregation in its development as we strive to move from a part-time to a full-time minister.
As expressly stated in our Visioning Process, our congregation wishes for TRUU “to be a beacon of liberal religion throughout the valley” and “to be broadly respected in our region as a center of contemporary religious thinking.” In order to achieve these goals, we seek a minister who will represent TRUU in the larger local community as well as in the Mountain Desert District of UUA and who will participate, whenever possible, in community outreach and service. Currently, two of our most popular community events are “Blessing of the Animals,” held annually at a local animal shelter, and the “Winter Solstice Celebration.”
Priorities for our minister include the following:
*Intellectually and spiritually challenging worship services that are rich, dynamic and meaningful;
*Strong interpersonal skills that allow open, direct communication with congregational members;
*Commitment to responsible congregational growth, including diversity, understanding of UU principles, justice-making and growth in numbers;
*An ability to reach out to, and attract, young families in the area;
*Sensitivity to the congregation’s diversity in age and religious backgrounds.
Our application deadline is May 14th. We invite you to visit our website: TwoRiversUU.org
